H’Art

Since the new year my mom has been working hard creating art pieces non stop. Aside from our annual Valentine’s day collage many of her art pieces feature heart shaped elements so I thought it fitting to share her most recent projects on this special occasion. Inspired by a recent trip to Pasadena, my mother transformed our ordinary stairs into a phenomenal masterpiece using objects found around the house. The pictures do not do justice but she literally poured her heart and soul into these stairs not stepping away from this collage for over 24 hours. Of course I am drawn to the last step which is covered in heart stickers. I also cherish the new heart shaped pillow she made for me last night as a Valentine’s Day gift, as well as the one she made for my brother. My mom continues to spread the love to friends and family and hope you all do them same. Happy Valentine’s Day! xoxo

Cheers, Shirley Temple

I grew up watching Curly Top, A Little Princess, Heidi and of course sipping the star’s signature sweet, bubbly, drink topped with that even sweeter Maraschino cherry. So naturally I shed a tear when I heard the news that America’s dimpled darling had passed away on Monday. Yesterday I thought it necessary to order the kid friendly cocktail as well as post this tribute to the talented star. Cheers to you Shirley Temple.

Thanksgivukkah

Happy Thanksgivukkah Eve everyone! Seth Cohen would probably be in his element. Since this is such a rare once in a lifetime event, hope everyone savors it. I was really impressed with Buzzfeed’s special menu for the occasion http://www.buzzfeed.com/christinebyrne/thanksgivukkah and these youtube mashups. Goble Tov!

Flavors of Fall

It appears I got a little ahead of myself with the recent holiday related posts. Since Halloween always seems to creep up on me and the holidays fly by, I really wanted to get a head start on my holiday prep this year. However despite what Starbucks and other window displays suggest, we are still in the heart of fall which means still pumpkins galore and of course Thanksgiving to look forward to.

It is my favorite time of year and though I look forward to the upcoming holidays around the corner, I intend on enjoying this time right now. I thought I would share some of my highlights of Autumn thus far (my Halloweekend and finally some of my Park City adventures). This includes in particular, a Latin spin on some traditional fall treats, pumpkin empanadas that go too perfectly with a decadent Mexican Hot Cocoa I recently discovered and devoured at the quaint Oaxacan bakery, La Monarca on that rare rainy and dreary day we had in LA last month.

Red Cup Season

Though I am still recovering from this recent Halloweekend Starbucks is naturally already in Christmas mode. The popular coffee shop has been cranking out their signature holiday red cups immediately after the spooky festivities ended (for some) on Friday morning. I was thrilled to receive my first Red Cup this year and cannot wait to embrace all of the Holiday Festivities this season. Last night I sipped warm hot cocoa during the first crisp night of Daylight Savings but I am looking forward to enjoying all of their holiday beverages while they are still here. Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season and gets to savor all of their holiday Starbies fixes. xx

B Strong

With all of the hype surrounding Halloween this year, it was easy to miss one of the most exciting World Series in years. Luckily I was able to watch the memorable last game of the series as well as the Boston Red Sox triumph over the Cardinals at Fenway Park. What a game! One Red Sox fan and New England Native did not miss a minute of this series let alone of any Red Sox Game. Over all these years, he has kept Boston Strong and always had faith in his team. Despite my lack of pictures this meant pretty much living in his Red Sox Hat and Jersey. This post is dedicated to you HT. Thank you for all of the support. I may not pull it off as well as you but I will definitely be rocking Some Boston Red this week.
