Merry Leap Day everyone! Do something cray cray today! Real life is for March…nothing on leap day counts 😉
While relaxing in the Tuileries on my day off from work, one summer day in Paris I met some awesome girls from Austin Texas, Veronica and Ariana. We immediately bonded over fashion, cupcakes, carousels, Fitzgerald, Audrey Hepburn and Tautou films and well Gossip Girl and other delicacies. I decided to take them under my wing and take them to all of my favorite Parisian hot spots. This of course included a trip to my favorite Salon de Te La Duree. We decided to commemorate our friendship and trip with matching kitschy (and cheesy) I heart Paris lighters. Though the flame is dwindling, I still have my lighter and think of these girls and my trip every time I use it. At least we will always have Paris though… Photo Cred to Veronica Camara an aspiring photographer who took all of these amazing pictures. I know its cliche but j’aime Paris and just think it is an enchanting place. I’ve been lucky and able to spend some summers in this city and each time my obsession with this place intensifies. For this reason when the film Midnight in Paris was released I could not wait to see it. From the cinematography, to the costumes, story, humor and music this delightful film totally exceeded my expectations. Woody Allen you’ve done it again. I feel like the filmmaker must have catered this film just for me. Then just when I thought the film could not get anymore amazing I came across this little gem of a video on the internet. This viral video which was created by the brilliantly witty and talented Maxwell Gray, is a mashup of Woody Allen’s 2011 film and Jay-Z and Kanye’s siiiiick track “N*ggas in Paris.” The video even incorporates my favorite comedy duo J.B. Smoove and Larry David. Nuff said. It’s all of my favorite things from last year wrapped up into one awesome video. I mean that shit kray.
As you can probably tell from the title of this blog I am definitely a fan of French culture, so it was only sooner or later that I would do a post about Paris and there is more where that came from. This post will be a two parter since it was just too tres fab to fit into one post.
Happy Monday everyone! I’ve been really inspired by butterflies and Alice in Wonderland lately. The disney interpretation of this creature combines all of my favorite things art, food, puns, and Disney. I have posted two videos that both feature these “butterflies.” One is a clip of the classic song “All in the Golden Afternoon” from the film while the other is a more modern interpretation of this classic film. This modern video is an electronic remix of sounds recorded from the 1951 film. I enjoy both videos in separate ways as I have an appreciation for Classical music as well as Electro music. I hope each will make your Monday a little bit more enjoyable and allow you to have a “Golden Afternoon” rather than a case of the Mondays.
So glad I finally saw the French director Michel Hazanavicius’s totally inspired film The Artist and that it won best director, actor, and picture at the Oscars! You must see this film on the big screen while it is still in theaters, the only way it was intended to be seen.
I’m not the biggest breakfast person. I know its supposed to be “the most important meal of the day” but frankly I’d rather sleep than eat. This exquisite video makes me almost not want to miss this meal though.
