I honestly do think I have been more excited for a movie to come out since probably Titanic, oh and maybe Spice World. This Baz Lurhman(Moulin Rougue, Australia) film was basically tailor made for moi. Its an adaptation of my all time favorite book about my favorite era the rolling 20s, by my favorite author F. Scott Fitzgerald, and stars my two favorite actors, Leo and Tobey Maguire(I think you get the picture). There have been tons of film adaptations of this novel, and though I was quite fond of the 1974 film I have been waiting for a film to really do justice to this wonderful novel and really convey what a G, Gatsby was. I am already blown away by the trailer and cannot wait until the film comes out in theaters this Christmas. For once I am actually looking forward to the typical Jewish Christmas tradition of you know movies and Chinese food, well not so much the later part still.

I was finally able to see the much anticipated Lars Von Trier film Melancholia, and it was well worth the wait. The are no words to describe the sheer brilliance and beauty of this exquisite yet haunting film. The overture of slow moving images and eery Classical music is a breathtaking masterpiece on its own. Another memorable scene, features lighting of lanterns following a wedding ceremony, a tradition that mainly finds its origins in Asian cultures. I have been fascinated with these lanterns as long as I can remember and have always wanted to light one of my own. These airborne lanterns may also be referred to as fire balloons and they illuminate the sky in the same way as the planet that haunts the lives of these victims in the film.
While relaxing in the Tuileries on my day off from work, one summer day in Paris I met some awesome girls from Austin Texas, Veronica and Ariana. We immediately bonded over fashion, cupcakes, carousels, Fitzgerald, Audrey Hepburn and Tautou films and well Gossip Girl and other delicacies. I decided to take them under my wing and take them to all of my favorite Parisian hot spots. This of course included a trip to my favorite Salon de Te La Duree. We decided to commemorate our friendship and trip with matching kitschy (and cheesy) I heart Paris lighters. Though the flame is dwindling, I still have my lighter and think of these girls and my trip every time I use it. At least we will always have Paris though… Photo Cred to Veronica Camara an aspiring photographer who took all of these amazing pictures. When life hands you lemons make them sparkle. Thats my motto these days. Valentine’s day is normally not my favorite holiday. This year it was especially difficult as I started working at a flower shop which was pretty chaotic preparing for the big day. Since I was pretty exhausted and not feeling so special anticipating this day I thought I would do some nice things for myself throughout the week to relax. This included having a bubble bath with some bubbly, painting my nails V day red with sequins to add some sparkle to my day, as well as watching some of my favorite light and fluffy films that are also all about the sparkle. To name a few The Wizard of Oz, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Stardust and Peter Pan(not Cinderella thought that would just be too depressing this time of year). Hope you will remember next year to make yourself feel special and sparkly if you haven’t found that special someone yet.
