I was finally able to see the much anticipated Lars Von Trier film Melancholia, and it was well worth the wait. The are no words to describe the sheer brilliance and beauty of this exquisite yet haunting film. The overture of slow moving images and eery Classical music is a breathtaking masterpiece on its own. Another memorable scene, features lighting of lanterns following a wedding ceremony, a tradition that mainly finds its origins in Asian cultures. I have been fascinated with these lanterns as long as I can remember and have always wanted to light one of my own. These airborne lanterns may also be referred to as fire balloons and they illuminate the sky in the same way as the planet that haunts the lives of these victims in the film.

It’s the Biebs’s birthday today and what would be a better way to spend it than on the Ellen show? Ellen of course made the bday boy’s day extra special with some toys, surprises, and a song performed by Megan Mullally, her own Bieber version of the classic Fever. Happy birthday baby boy! You may legal today, but you will always be super cute, super sweet and an inspiration to us all. We love you! Here’s a look back on his first appearance on Ellen before he was the mega star he is now and when he still had those epic bangs.
*This post is dedicated to all of those bieblievers out there 🙂
When life hands you lemons make them sparkle. Thats my motto these days. Valentine’s day is normally not my favorite holiday. This year it was especially difficult as I started working at a flower shop which was pretty chaotic preparing for the big day. Since I was pretty exhausted and not feeling so special anticipating this day I thought I would do some nice things for myself throughout the week to relax. This included having a bubble bath with some bubbly, painting my nails V day red with sequins to add some sparkle to my day, as well as watching some of my favorite light and fluffy films that are also all about the sparkle. To name a few The Wizard of Oz, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Stardust and Peter Pan(not Cinderella thought that would just be too depressing this time of year). Hope you will remember next year to make yourself feel special and sparkly if you haven’t found that special someone yet.
Thought I would make an effort this year and actually watch the bowl, rather than just the commercials, halftime show and any potential halftime show scandals that may occur (reference to the Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction of 04). I thought I would also get some brownie points from my dad a New England native and diehard Patriots fan, and root for his team. Its just an added plus that Tom Brady happens to play for the Patriots. Hope everyone enjoys the game today whichever team you are rooting for, unless that isn’t the Patriots. I have posted a clip of an issue that is even more important than this New England/New York bloodbath, that being Tom Brady’s hair. Even athletes can still look good right? Now the real question isn’t Giants or Pats, but Brady or Biebs.
I still do not know what that line means but it was said by my favorite comedian JB Smoove and I thought it went well with the newish year theme. Since I was trying to make 2012 my year I thought it was time for a fresh haircut and makeup look, new glasses, a new job, and now a new blog. I would like to thank Luxe Hair Lab and the lovely ladies at Benefit especially the fabulous makeup artist Diva, for my fresh look. I know new years was a month ago and I am sharing this with everyone now, but like the wise Liz Lemon once said “It’s never too late for now.” So if you may not have started off on the right foot this year and put your resolutions/goals on the back burner, I say why not give them another try, it was just the Chinese New Year after all.
