Lalalandia

Like probably most Angelenos out there, I find myself having a love/hate relationship with the city I call home. I try to keep things chill on the Santa Monica Coast and distance myself from the chaos of downtown. However things are starting to get a little dull over here, which is why one of my resolutions this year was to venture outside of my Santa Monica bubble. I must have been inspired by the British architect Reyner Banham I was introduced to in an art history course last spring by one of the most brilliant professors on the Scripps campus. In this hilariously entertaining 1970’s documentary “Reyner Banham Loves Los Angeles” the English architect/tourguide basically takes you on a wild ride through the city exposing you to some of the most beautiful and fascinating places in L.A. The clip I have posted is just a taste of his tour but I highly recommend watching the entire 50 minutes of the film, trust me you are in for a real treat. Hopefully one day I will grow to love L.A. as much as this cooky Brit did back in the day.
